The Euphoria star originally said she found Pattinson "mysterious" before her fiancé revealed he finds him "super fun and always laughing"

Zendaya may have gotten the wrong idea about Robert Pattinson when they first met.

Costars Zendaya, 29, and Robert Pattinson interviewed each other in a new cover story for Interview, where the two opened up about working together on their new film The Drama, and how Zendaya's fiancé, Tom Holland, had a totally different view of the Twilight star.

"I think it’s interesting, because you probably know what I thought about you before I met you, but I don’t think I asked you what you thought about me," Zendaya said to Pattinson, 39.

"Truthfully, I met you because we had common friends, and you were always pretty quiet and chill, which is a little different from my experience of Rob," she continued. "You didn’t say much, and I was like, 'Ooh, mysterious!' Then I talked to Tom and he was like, 'No, he’s super fun and always laughing and joking,' and I was like, 'Really? I haven’t experienced that side of him, I guess.'”

"That’s so depressing. I wish I could stay in the mysterious. I’ve learned again and again that if you just don’t speak, people are like, 'Wow. You’re really intimidating,' but I just can’t f—ing maintain it," said Pattinson.

"You maintained it for a while, until we made a few movies together," Zendaya replied. The two are costarring in three movies this year, The Drama, Dune: Part Three, and The Odyssey, which also stars Holland, 29.

Zendaya and Holland got engaged in January 2025 , four years after the pair confirmed their relationship. Holland and Pattinson are longtime friends, costarring in the 2020 Netflix drama The Devil All the Time. Last year, Holland spoke to GQ about their friendship.

“I love Rob to death, he's a good friend of mine. We just made another movie together," said Holland.

As for Pattinson's impression of Zendaya, he hesitated to share.

"My impression of you? You know what? I can’t tell if this is kind of offensive or not," Pattinson said.

"Do you know how people always ask, 'Do you feel a responsibility to be an example to your fans?' I think you’re a good example to the youth."

In The Drama, Zendaya and Pattinson star as an engaged couple whose wedding planning takes a dramatic turn after a shocking revelation. Though she's starred in plenty of blockbusters, Zendaya says she'd rather skip the promotional cycle of movies.

"If it was possible for people to just go see something without having to promote it, that would be great. Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s our reality," she shared to Pattinson.

"When I hear actors talk about their projects, everyone sounds like geniuses to me. I can’t really communicate what I’m trying to do." Pattinson said.

The Drama is in theaters April 3.
