Things might have gone dark for the holidays over at *The Late Show With Stephen Colbert*, but its host is still on Donald Trump's mind.
The president took to Truth Social on Tuesday night to fire off a tirade against the late-night hosts he's been playing a verbal tug-of-war with for months, singling out Colbert despite CBS already having canceled his show, which Trump has called for many times in the past.
"Stephen Colbert is a pathetic trainwreck with no talent or anything else necessary for show business success," Trump wrote in his rant. "Now, after being terminated by CBS, but left out to dry, he has actually gotten worse, along with his nonexistent ratings."
The former *Apprentice* host continued, "Stephen is running on hatred and fumes. A dead man walking! CBS should 'put him to sleep' NOW. It is the humanitarian thing to do!"

As vitriolic as his remarks were, Trump wasn't done. He continued to lash out, targeting Colbert's late-night peers. "Who has the worst late-night host — CBS, ABC, or NBC???" he wrote. "They all have three things in common: high salaries, no talent, REALLY LOW RATINGS!"
"If Network NEWSCASTS and their late-night shows are almost 100% negative to President Donald J. Trump, MAGA, and the Republican Party, shouldn't their very valuable broadcast licenses be terminated? I say, YES!" he added in a third post, likely referring to the unfavorable coverage he routinely gets from Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and Jon Stewart.
Trump ended his latest diatribe by posting "Merry Christmas!!!" with no explanation of what set him off this time.

Trump has made similar comments on several occasions over the past year, as he and his administration feud with everyone from talk show hosts to the creators of Comedy Central's *South Park*.

In the wake of *The Late Show*'s cancellation, which came several days after Colbert criticized CBS' parent company, Paramount, for settling a lawsuit with Trump, the president has repeatedly called for *Live* host Kimmel, *Tonight Show* host Jimmy Fallon, and *Late Night* host Meyers to be put on the chopping block.

But despite Trump's passionate resentment and urging, he won't be getting his wish anytime soon — all three hosts have signed contract extensions that will keep them on TV for most of his presidency. Last year, both Fallon and Meyers renewed their contracts with NBC to host *The Tonight Show *and *Late Night* until 2028, and Kimmel recently inked a one-year contract extension with ABC to continue hosting *Live *through May 2027.
Meanwhile, Colbert vowed shortly after his show's cancellation was announced that he has no plans to rein in his criticism of the sitting U.S president.**
