Doughnut hesitate for this sweet freebie!
On Wednesday, Jan. 14, the bakery chain has two hours when customers can score a free Original Glazed doughnut. The deal comes after tens of thousands of Verizon Wireless customers were stuck in "SOS" mode on Jan. 14.
Between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., fans can get the free confection in stores or via drive-thru. There is no purchase needed to snag the sweet and there is a limit of one free doughnut per customer, according to an Instagram post.
This is not Krispy Kreme's first outage-prompted deal. A global IT outage and nationwide cellphone outage meant customers got two instances of free doughnuts back in 2024.
Reports of outages began flooding in around 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Jan. 14, according to the website Downdetector, while The New York Post reported that the outage began shortly after 9 a.m.
Users located in New York City, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte, Houston, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. are affected by the outage, per outlets.
Verizon confirmed the network issues in a statement shared on social media just after 1 p.m.
While many Verizon users reported getting their service back, others' devices are still in "SOS mode," which occurs when the cell phone is in an area with no cellular service, or have a "no service" icon.
Other providers, including T-Mobile and AT&T, reported smaller scale outages on Jan. 14, too.
